Privacy Policy for Skye

Last updated: August 2026

Skye ("the app") is developed by Dmitrii Miliukov ("I", "me"). This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it's used, and who it's shared with.

Data the app accesses

Location. Skye requests approximate location access (coarse location) to determine your current position. This is used only to fetch and display the current weather and forecast for your area. Your location is sent to OpenWeather (see "Third-party services" below) as part of that request. It is not stored on any server I operate, because Skye does not have a backend server — it communicates directly with OpenWeather's API from your device.

Saved cities. If you save a city to your favorites, its name and coordinates are stored locally on your device only. This data is not transmitted anywhere except as coordinates sent to OpenWeather to fetch weather for that city.

App settings. Your preferences (theme, temperature/wind units, language, and an optional custom OpenWeather API key if you choose to provide one) are stored locally on your device only.

No account required.Skye does not require you to create an account, and does not collect your name, email address, or any other personal identifier.

Third-party services

Skye sends location coordinates (and, for search, city names you type) to OpenWeather (openweathermap.org) in order to retrieve weather data. This is the only third party the app communicates with. OpenWeather's handling of this data is governed by their own privacy policy: openweather.co.uk/privacy-policy

Skye does not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or any other third-party tracking.

Data retention and deletion

All app data (saved cities, settings) lives only on your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing the app's storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling the app. I do not retain any copy of this data elsewhere, since none is ever sent to me.

Children's privacy

Skye is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
